House In Victoria, London
Having successfully completed the basement renovation, we were then ready to tackle the 4 upper floors. The ground floor was completely opened up so that that the staircase became the only visual division between the entrance hall and the kitchen. Again I worked closely with building control at the design stage and a 1/2 hour fire curtain was concealed in the ceiling between the staircase and the kitchen – designed to seal the areas off from each other in the event of a fire.
The other floor which was completely reconfigured was the 2nd floor, to create an elegant Master Bedroom, en-suite shower room and dressing room.
We decided to keep the classic detailing of the house by installing doors with mouldings and cornices throughout, but to emphasise the high ceilings and make the spaces flow into each other better I increased all the door heights to their maximum.
