Residence in Hampstead, London
I had worked on two previous homes for these clients, and they enlisted my help once again on this splendid and very large two floor apartment. Most of the job required furniture and furnishings including working with the client to select eighteenth century antiques. We added some more ornate plaster work to the drawing room, to bring it back to its former glory, but the two areas which needed to be completely re-done were the kitchen, plus the master bedroom, dressing room and bathroom. The latter was completely re-configured including raising the floor and the ceiling in the newly formed bathroom to incorporate a sunken bath and to create a sense of drama. The floor and some of the walls were finished in bespoke tumbled marble mosaic work and the rest of the walls were polish plastered. The dressing room, along with the rest of the lower floor had its carpets replaced with dark, rustic oak flooring and the modern hardwood wardrobe doors were painted in an ornate and crusty finish to look antique. I then designed two very long French style wall storage and display units for the long bedroom corridor, which again were painted elaborately to look old.
