Two Bedroom Show Flat in Shacklewell Street, East London
This was the first building I worked on for this developer, and I was recommended by the selling agents for The Foundry. It was a new build project in the up and coming, lively area by Columbia Market. I had two show flats to design, so I designed the one bedroom flat for a first time buyer in mind, using an ethnic influence in the furnishings. In the two bed room flat, I designed it like an art installation, creating one off original pieces of furniture throughout. Where the television and hi-fi would automatically go, I designed a collection of long shelving units in various colours and sizes and positioned them in an abstract design on the wall. I then commissioned a painting on canvas for the opposite wall, using the same shape and size as the bespoke coffee table top in front of the wacky shaped sofa. I used Phillipe Starck’s coral colour chairs for the dining area plus one single chair with a swirl shaped timber back, which complimented the developments logo.
